Re: Provent-a-Mite in room with other animals?
Well I emailed them, hopefully will hear back soon.

I have zero plans to spray this even inside the building that any of my animals are in. I will just spray the carpet, allow it to dry, and then bring it inside. My understanding is that this will eliminate the chance of any gases/vapors being around any other animal (or human for that matter). However, I will hopefully get a response from him in the next day. I just cleaned all my snake carpet so I'm going to allow it to dry over night and then was planning on spraying.

Just spray your substrate in a different room or a garage if you cannot do it outside.
It's only dangerous if the animals come into contact with it in wet and vapor form. Any particles in the air would dry out before reaching other rooms.

As for Diatomaceous Earth. I am a huge fan of it to get rid of mites, fleas, and deworm my furry pets. And lots of people use it to dust their poultry. It's non toxic and natural. However, the way it works is that it shreds anything with an exoskelleton to pieces. I'm not certain how it would effect scales. I want to say it is safe since chickens dust in it with no ill effect and their skin and feathers are a different form of scales....

I've killed geckos with it before without spraying it in their cages just spraying it nearby so I think it would be very dangerous to use around frogs. I would remove everything from the room, cover the frog tanks and bird cages if they can't be removed and spray the snake cage. Let it dry and then move everything back in once it's dry. The stuff does last a very long time, which is GOOD thing actually. I don't know any poisons that will kill mites in the egg, but the provent-a-mite will last long enough that it will kill the baby mites as they hatch.
