A couple breeding questions

I know you mentioned a hot side temp, does she have a cool side? Or is the whole enclosure 88-92?

Whistling can also be caused by retained shed in the nostrils or possibly some other restriction of nasal passage that is causing the whistling sound. She definitely would not have survived 2 years with a RI. This risk of breeding your snake I would say is similar to people breeding, there could always be a complication but that is a small minority. I have had snakes lay egg in January all the way to November (had a clutch laid today) so don't think breeding season is isolated to a few months, they go when they are ready. If you girl suddenly stops eating and is not in shed it's very possible she is in her breeding cycle. I watch my girls more than I watch the calendar, they tell me what's going on;)

Yeah, I looked in the nostrils and can't see anything as did the vet. I was thinking about taking her into another vet and possibly getting some xray's done to see if we can see something from that.

As for breeding goes, I think I may just wait another year. She is just 1200g after all, and is giving me some feeding problems since I have moved to school and have to give her f/t (she only eats live). That would also give me more time to carefully select a good male instead of everything being rushed.

Sounds like a good plan to me.

I have a snake with a similar issue. He whistles a lot but its only when bothered or being handled. I've also noticed he doesn't have the ability to hiss. He just squeaks louder. Mine went through tons of visits, blood work, cultures, and antibiotics, and nothing ever changed. His mouth is clean and he eats fine but he whistles. Could be a previous facial injury.

Yeah thats what the vet said about mine. I'm just thinking about the possibility of getting an xray done to hopefully better see the nasal passage. Not 100% sure if I'll actually do it or not yet because the vet said that he's pretty sure its the case. Since if something was stuck in her nose, it would have gotten infected or come out by now.

if it's a deformity she was born with, aren't you afraid of passing that on to her offspring?
