    When their eyes go blueish or cloudy, then they're about to shed. Then when the eyes clear up, expect them to shed within a day or so.

    sometimes bp's will soak for a while a few weeks prior to shed. i've got one that soaks all the time, and he's mite free and the humidity in his enclosure is perfect. he just likes to soak. no biggie.

    One easy way to check for mites is to use a light colored waterbowl and look in it after the snake soaks. if there are a bunch of floating black things, you got mites. But they are not hard to eliminate. I used this zoomed stuff (I usually dont like their products, but this was out of desperation) and it worked for my boa when I got him.

    well i guess if hes mite free and hes conditions are good he just likes to soak. ball pythons are individuals with different things they like, for instance, my bp cant stand water. he never gets anywhere near it lol
