You definitely got lucky on that one. I never leave my snakes unattended outside, if I even take them out. A hawk would be a real issue around here.

I once laid down on my bed with a snake while listening to my favorite talk radio station and ended up falling alseep with my pastel girl on my chest. when I awoke she was comfortably coiled up under the covers with me enjoying a nice warm 98.6 degree cave.

I can't believe I lost him like that I felt so bad I wasn't going to say anything about it because I felt so dumb but I decided to post because it ended up so good but I learned a lesson.

Im glad to hear it turned out alright! They always end up popping up where/when you least expect it. Found my roomates argentinian boa in a pot one time. It is like 8 feet lol!

Happened to me once, my lesser girl got away from me. It took her 3 months to turn up. I felt awful. But then one evening she popped up in my garage and I finally got her back where she belongs. She was so skinny it was sad, but happily I have plumped her up very nicely. She has never refused a meal since! Yesterday she actually ate two small rats, hers and one that another one of my snakes didn't want. She looks like a cross between a ball python and a bowling ball now!

The same happened with my 15 ft burm but i turned to grab my phone answered i got tied up in conversation I lost track of time I turned around and she was gone I looked everywhere outside I didnt find her I was heartbroken I went back inside to turn off her heat lamp to find that she came through the window and put herself in her own enclosure. Sad enough she died a few weeks later from a tumor.:(

I've been pure sick thinking how it was all my fault that he was going to die from the on coming cold weather. When I got home from work I went and checked the snakes as usual and went to the garage to check the rats and something caught my eye and as I looked down I realized my boy was sitting on the bag of bedding stretching to get to the mouse tub. I can't believe it he came back home. I am so happy and he looks fine but obviously hungry from missing last Sundays feeding. LOL

Irresponsible and if you can forget a pet like that ,don't mean to sound harsh but you shouldn't own any...

now thats a bit rude since the distraction was unspecified. like the legendary bumper sticker that is banned on this forum due to the bad word filter says: "**** happens". The distraction may have been an accident putting a relative in jeopardy, or a childbirth out of predicted scedule, or an arrest, or any number of things. a while back friends of mine got evacuated by force for 36 hours because of a bomb, and because attempts to defuse it failed, it had to be detonated in the middle of the city. "excrement happens".

Dont be so harsh in your judgement if the cause of the distraction is unspecified.

Mistakes happen. I'm sure you will make one. Give it time. You've owned a snake for all of what? 3 weeks???
