If we took the spider gene out, think of all the beautiful combo's that wouldn't exist.

That's awesome that you did all that for the snake. I just feel like some people under-credit reptiles so much.

Absolutely!! Some of my favorite morphs have the spider gene. And a lot of breeders have gotten pretty good and breeding out the severity of the wobble.

I agree, and thank you! People are quick to give up on them, and they can be quite resilient.

The Spider Gene wobble actually reminds of genetic traits in dogs, such as German Shepherd and Hip Dysplasia. Some people will still breed them despite the possibility of it, and others won't. Whether you breed him or just keep him as a pet, that won't change the heartwarming story. :)

Reputable German Shepherd breeders will xray the potential breeding prospects hips and have them OFA certified, most will not breed with a rating lower than "good", sometimes if going back the pedigree the dogs are good or above they may choose to breed one with a fair rating to a dog with an excellent rating.
It doesn't " guarantee" the offspring won't have it... as you are working with nature, but greatly decreases the risk.

So many GS have it due to byb and puppy mills who plainly don't care!

And I can't see the pick on my phone :(

I agree. My little Xavier only has a mild to moderate wobble, but it does add a cuteness to him. He wouldn't be himself without it. :)

Taking on animals that are not "perfect" but still need cared for shows the person you are.

I agree with the post above. Nice to see keepers going the extra mile to take care of animals with special needs.

I don't know if you name your animals but if you do, you might consider "Weeble". You might be too young to remember the toys called Weebles. If so, here's a link to a vintage commercial.

    Best of luck with him.
