Planning on getting a new tank?

Tubs are great especially if you're able to hold the room a steady temp.

You can save more money by going with tubs.

Ditto on this. They have nice display cages that are way easier to manage than a tank in terms of heat and humidity, plus they are a lot lighter than a heavy glass tank. The extra money spent is going to be saved and then some because you would be wasting as much time and money trying to modify the tank to get everything right. I have to spray my tanks almost every day to keep humidity correct (for the boas and balls), even with the modifications, but I actually never have to spray the cages. It stays perfect with just the humidity from the water bowl and substrate, and they look a lot nicer than a tank in my opinion anyway.

Tubs can only be used if the room has a higher ambient temperature around 76-78 degrees because belly heat in a tub will not keep the air temperature up. Get the 20 gallon off your friend, it should last your snake another year or so. Then use the 10 gallon you have now for your new snake you plan on getting at the expo. By the time he out grows the 10 gallon, you can switch him to the 20 gal and buy the 40 gal for your first snake.

where can i get one of teh 1st ones? i really like the tank design they have 1 at the thrift store up the street from me, but they want 250 for i tried to talk him down but i couldnt :/

I really would recomend sticking to tubs, they are so much easier to control temps. The tub setups are cheap compared with tanks. JUST MY OPINION!

i would do that but i was tlaking to my dad last night and he told me no more animals, my house has 10 tarantulas, salt water fish, a snake, turtle, 3tree frogs, fresh water fish, a dog and cat. weve had scorpions, birds, an iguana, gater snakes, rough green snakes, ginuea pigs, and a western hognose. there was probably more but i cant think of right now, those werent all at the same time but over the period of my 17 year old life haha. if it were up to me id fill my basment with racks upon racks of coulbrids, lizards, balls, king snakes, anything! and if i had the money to feeed everything, hell id probably breed my own mice but thats on ly a dream for now

I have to agree. I went from a glass exo Terra to a Animal Plastics PVC. It's flipping amazing.
