    Sometimes my male snake will strike and then start eating, but then abandon the food because he was eating it at a awkward angle. I usually take it out, warm it under the lamp for like 30 seconds and then present the same rat again. It's pretty much always my fault if my snake isn't eating the rat head-first, that happens if I drop it by accident or something.

    I have no idea if snakes will eat pray that is just lying there, maybe they do... I just always make sure they eat it right away so I've never tested that
