dont corn snakes get longer than ball pythons ? im pretty sure they do. correct me if im wrong. oh...and if your scared that a ball python is going to kill you,dont worry it wont.

Corn snakes rarely exceed 5 feet - more like 3.5-4.5 feet.
Ball Pythons average 4-5 feet w/ some females possibly up to 6 feet.

So generally BPs are longer and definitely thicker.

Corn snake is an excellent choice for a beginner. The breeder links above are some of the most well-known and respected corn breeders around. I highly recommend The Corn Snake Manual (written by the breeder in one of the links I provided). There's also a book called The Color Guide to Cornsnakes that shows the various morphs and patterns.

I'm also only 14 so I need something I can handle. (My mom and I have worked out all of the college details...etc)

You'd be able to literally 'handle' a BP just as you could a corn. However, it seems that you are trying to make the best decision for both you and your mom. That being said, it may be best for you to go with a corn to avoid the possible unpredictability of a Ball Python's eating and slightly greater housing/care requirements. You'll find lots of great colors and morphs of corns at an affordable price.

I say garter, for a 14 year old(me being 16 :) ). they are MUCH easier to feed, and a nice natural enclosure looks better than an aspen water bowl hide corn snake set up :)

Minnows and earth worms are MUCH easier to feed than pinkies.

Ok nomadofthehills ,not trying to be rude but i think you should start looking at dates of the posts you reply to, some of the ones you have been replying to lately have been really really old.Im sure she already figured out the snake she is going to get and got it, as did i with the other post you replied to (i ended up with a corn not a garter or ribbon) Again , dont mean to sound rude but..........

i think this person hasnt really studied any snakes before because usually the people who hardly know anthing about snakes always think of a python as a big killing machine. I spent like 2 months researchin on all the possible snakes i could get!

sk8r4life .. this is an extremely old post and that user was doing research. Not all the people that post here have reptiles at the time of their posts. Some of them are doing their research. There is no such thing as a dumb question.

This is a really old post and im sure she has already gotten her snake and been informed about it and researched it quite a bit, after all shes a member of one of the best reptile websites on the web (in my point of view) and people in this post have already helped her out............in JULY !
