I know these questions may sound stupid but I am tired of buying different things for this BP. I am ready to buy the correct items and be done. I know buying the tank was not the best idea but I wanted something visual for it. I don't think I am going to be breeding so tubs are not what I am looking for. However, the more and more I read...they seem to be best. It is very frustrating

You would want to leave a spot open for the lamp. As for the temperature of the water, I don't think it would bother the snake.

Tubs are much easier, but if you do want to go with tanks, once you get the conditions right where you want them, there's not much other than maintenance after that.

I change out the water daily.
. Leave an open spot for the light, just cover 3/4 of the screen

Also I would change to an infrared bulb throws higher heat without the light annoying the snake. Or a ceramic heat emitter

You cannot hook up both a heat lamp and a UTH to a single outlet thermostat. The Heat lamp and UTH require vastly different amounts of power. They need to be controlled separately. There are multi channel thermostats available that can run both at the same time. They can do this because they are literally 2 separate thermostats put into a single unit. I would recommend the Herpstat 2:

If that is out of your price range then you can use 2 cheaper thermostats, or 1 nice thermostat for the UTH (like a herpstat 1 or Herpstat intro +) and a lamp dimmer to control the heat lamp
