    I mean, I realize that you have a new idea or whatever but think about this: A flourescent fixture that spans the cage isn't going to provide your snake the proper temperature gradient that it needs to thermoregulate. In english, that means that you need heat on one side of the cage, and cooler temps on the other. Your snake will choose which side to be on depending on whether it wants to get warm or cool off. Putting a flourescent strip prevents this from happening and is a bad idea. Theres a lot of successful keepers on here- when we say something isn't a good idea, its not a personal attack, its just that there are better methods that are much better for your snake.
