    The thought I had: It can be like ghosts and true ghosts, subtrateless and true substrateless. :)

    Guess I use a true substrateless method.

    Truly substrateless would mean you just put the eggs directly on the tub floor right ;)

    Substrateless makes sense to me. You don't have to put substrate in, but it's a good way to keep the water from splashing the eggs.

    If it gets really drippy in there I'll usually cover the eggs with a sheet of newspaper or paper towel and change it out if it really gets soaked.
