I was bit while feeding, its not what your thinking

Thanks for the advice about keeping something handy to take the place of my finger. I had never thought about it before because like u said she never had an issue before.

Bobbafett, my feeders are always cared for. Sometimes I buy a few extra for the next week or 2. They are kept in a 10g tank with fresh bedding, food, water 2 hides, and a wheel. Just because they are going to be food doesn't mean they should be abused. They are still an animal. The rat that bit me came home in a critter carrier that i bring from home with bedding, food and water already in it.

I feed all my snakes Live Rats. I raise the rats myself. So far I havent had a rat bite any of my snakes. Not saying they couldnt, but havent yet. Now as for sticking my finger in the rats mouth.....NO WAY! I will just stick to the meds if that happens. I have tried to switch to F/T rats and none of mine will even look at them. They seem to like the hunt.

Glad to hear the snake and your finger are fine. :-)

As has already been suggested, keep a pair of tongs or something nearby if feeding live for instances like this.

Sorry if me digging up my old thread is frouned upon. I just wanted to add that as suggested I have bought a scale and before feeding my little girl is 520g and as best as a person can measure a BP that doesn't want to be measured ahe is about 27". At least that's what I came up with while she was trying to squeeze my wrist to death.
