Not sure if this was directed at me or the news article itself.
If it were to me... It's simply a quick illustration of how even a minor event can make the news. As small and brief as this article may be it puts a lot of unwanted attention towards to the local reptile industry, especially when reference is made to the New Brunswick case.
If it were to the news article itself... this article is an easy sell and will gain quick publicity in light of the recent tragedy in Eastern Canada. Although it may not be front-page material any time a non-native species is captured in the 'wild' it will usually make some form of news whether it be a blog, column, webcast etc.
Personally, I prefer Ricky's article over the bunch. ;)

im pretty sure he was wondering why a stray snake would make the papers, thats all. I think the fact that someone lost a morph would be more interesting a news article than some dude went into his garage and found a snake! ( on a side note.... I went into my backyard and none of you will ever believe it but I seen a RABBIT!) And I mean this thing had fuzzy brown hare () and long floppy ears!!!! It was VERY disturbing. I thought about calling animal control but decided to run indoors instead! shrew close one!!!!

Oh ya? Well I was walking down the street and I saw a dog! Just walking around! It was viciously sniffing the ground and pee'ing on trees!!! It was so scary! I've already alerted the attention of the associated press. Things like this have to be stopped!
Meanwhile after I returned to my home(out of breath from running for my life) I took my docile snakes out of their locked enclosures and cuddled with them and told them stories of my horrendous situation while sipping hot tea.
They were being great listeners. Well, until one of them remembered that it too was a vicious man eater and killed me.

Does the paper run an article every time animal control picks up a stray dog or cat? I don't think so. There was literally no reason to run a story about animal control finding a BP in a shed and taking it in because that's what animal control does... It has nothing to do with the case where a rock python supposedly strangled two kids (because no matter what the news outlets are saying, if a big snake did kill and constrict two kids why would it not attempt to eat either of them, and how did it manage to constrict without messing up blankets or waking any of them up when a 60 pound animal fell through the ceiling) and was totally inappropriate to run.

As I was reading it, I was skeptical, but considering it..
Until you added yourself into the story haha
