    Take good pics and go show them to a local woodworker like a cabinet maker. My shop teacher in high school could identify different species of trees (wood) just by smelling the boards lmao

    But yeah, I think I'm going to end up painting the whole shelf, laquering it, then tiling over the entirety of the insides to seal the wood oils away from the enclosure.
