I say f/t all the way....Petco here sells Gourmet Rodent as well....they aren't the best quality IMO, but it's convenient, until I order online that is. Also, we are going to try the 'gas chamber' method for Smitty b/c he absolutely refuses f/t, so far anyway, I'm confindent that we'll be able to convert him eventually.

Also, depending on the snakes size, one prey item/once a week is preferred.

EDIT: Marla, the Petco here sells both Gourmet Rodent AND Mice on Ice.

My Petco also sells Gourmet Rodent, but like I've said before, they are cheaper and more convienent to get them from my local breeder. Every time you buy 10 or more mice from him, he gives you extra for free! I bought 10 before and he gave me 12 ^_^

What you can do is get a small ice chest and put a bowl of water in it. You can put a bit of dry ice which is frozen carbon dioxide. The water will turn it directly to a gas and the rodent will suffocate its quick and painless. Make sure you dont open the cooler before its done. Most people do it like that because dry ice is cheap and works very well.
