When I first got in the hobby, I read an article that basically summed up as ghost colors were not lines as we see them today, but actually described the color of the snake. Orange ghosts actually looked orange, butterscotch looked caramel, yellow looked yellow, ect. So when people bred orange x orange and made orange yellow butterscotch grey *insert of colors* in the same clutch, they labeled them as such, not just orange ghost line. I don't know how true it was, but it sounded convincing.
