Does that one have the typical retic attitude?

Wow!! Those guys are awesome looking! I hope we get to watch them grow up. And I second Marla's questions! Would love to know more about the breeding and dwarf potential of these guys!

Well, the GC is wild caught, so he tends to be a bit flighty & will turn around to bite when you're not expecting it. His babies have all been little sweethearts so far.
In our experience, "typical retic attitude" is a calm, docile, placid, yet very alert snake that has developed a good rapport & level of trust in humans through consistent, gentle interaction with a dedicated keeper.

Here's Mom - a calico named Penny. She's around 14' in length and a WC that we've had for years.

Thanks for the kind words! We know for sure it's a new morph, we just don't know whether or not it will throw a super. Here's hoping!

Retics are beautiful and horrifying all at the same time. I love giant pythons.....

So are the new babies not only this new morph, but also het for calico? Is the calico feature in retics a recessive trait?

How are they horrifying? Everyone seems to have this concept that retics are, big, badass snakes (which they are), that are out to eat everything that moves (which they're not). They are actually very intelligent for snakes, and CBB specimens that are accustomed to people are an absolute joy to work with. Granted, I don't recommend them for every Joe Shmoe who walks in off the street - having the ability to read & understand snake behavior is a MUST when dealing with large constrictors. At the same time, I hate seeing such a negative light *always* cast upon these snakes. It seems they fall victim to a lot of misunderstanding.
Just my $.02

Oh no I'm on the exact same page as you...they are beautiful, there's something about their eyes that is just piercing. I meant it in a positive way. And yes, I hate it too that people are so creeped out by snakes, small and large. Most people ask why I keep reptiles...I guess its just hard to explain to people who don't "get it."
