    Just make sure you have adult females and males. More females than males is better, obviously. Males have the wings (but don't really fly) and females look kinda like madagascar hissing roaches. Also, you don't really need moisture, you need those water crystals. Moisture can cause mold which will wipe out your colony. Go for an opaque rubbermaid tub...they like the dark. Unless you want to paint a tank or wrap it. They need some heat too...but you probably won't have to worry about that for the summer. I keep mine in the garage and I am in Texas. It's plenty warm and they are breeding well.

    If you buy a "starter colony" they should have a good ratio of males and females.

    Cheap water crystals I found were at a plant store. Their sold in a big jar as just the little beads, you take a scope and add water until its how you want it. It costed 11 dollars and ive barley made a dent in it after 5 months. I can snap a pic of them if you want

    Starter kits are kind spendy. But will be worth it. Any recommended places to get a starter colony?
