It is illegal in Canada and much of europe as well. Pyrethroids like pam and nix are quite toxic chemicals in fact they have been used to kill snakes in the past (brown snakes Guam) and need to be used exactly according to ALL the instructions not just the easy ones.

That said and as NY and FL I think it is banned from Ca soon ? I heard that from another forum not sure on that.

Reptile relief is a great product it works super well.

The old school methods work perfectly, not toxic chemicals just some work. The first step is to isolate the tub the simplest method is to place in in a larger tub with diatomaceous earth (ant powder) the mites cannot crawl through it. The next step is soaking the snake in water (warm water around 85º for 20min) with a drip of dish soap (drowns mites on the snake) and the last step is to clean the enclosure completely soap water and as much heat as you can manages (boiling water) mites die around 105º if you can get the enclosure to this or higher while the snake is soaking it will kill large numbers. Return snake and repeat all the steps but the isolation every 3 days for a week or two until you see no more mites. Lowering the humidity if possible in the snake enclosure to below 50% (40%) would be better also will help as mites do not reproduce well at lower RH.

    A great article,
