    Yeah that's what I'm thinking is to have it a lot thinner than it is now. And yea the temp is like 75-80 in the cage.

    The substrate over the uth should be about a 1/4 inch thick for your snake to benefit from the heat. Having a substrate this thin the snake can easily be moved where the snake is directly on the glass, especially coconut.

    You need to get your temp regulated before you thin out the substrate. With a substrate as thick as yours the heat is not making it to the top so you really do not have a hot spot right now.

    Thank you. Sounds good to me. As soon as I get the thermostat I will thin out the substrate some. Thanks for the advice.
