I'd agree with this. I feed once a week too and mine poos about every 10-14 days and I find urates a little more frequently. My baby is still pretty young - she's about 230gm.

I got her from Randy (?) with World Wide Reptiles at our local reptile expo in Taylor, MI. She was on a table with a bunch of colubrids. I have yet to see another like her. But I am looking!! One day, I will! And, yes, I'll let you know! There aren't too many folks working with Dums and I'd like to be one of them. But I strive for superior quality so I won't pick just any male for her - he's gotta be perfect! :D

I still haven't seen mine take her food. I have to leave it in and walk away.

That is almost reassuring lol! She will eat fresh killed, but when it has been dead a while she just puts her face on it and then recoils.. We do this dance where I only offer FT for the longest time, and then cave when I worry she is starting to loose weight and feed fresh killed. Its nice to know I am not the only one having issues feeding my Dum. She does take fresh killed like a beast though :P

I have had her almost 2 years now, I didn't start trying to feed FT until she was big enough for large rats.. wish I had started earlier..

I have a 4 year old male and a yearling female. The male is 5'4" long and 3700g (rougly 8lbs). The female is about 2 feet long (hard to measure her little squirmy body lol) and about 300g. Both are totally mellow and have never bitten me, and they eat f/t rats without a problem. The breeder I got my female from (Jared at Reptile Mogul in Tempe, AZ) was feeding her fresh killed, but I've only fed her f/t since I've had her. My male is a closet eater, but the female will take the rat from my hand.

    Male - Andry

I have two juvenile dumerils, both female.
Olivia is a 2011, I was told. Odyssey is a 2012. Both took patience to switch from live to f/t. Olivia took 4 months, Odyssey 2 months. They were on mice so I tried f/t mice. They refused every time. What worked (wish I tried sooner) was offering rat instead of mice, and HUGE prey. They had to be moved to look like live to start them off, but now those two don't care if it is moved or not. If I move the rat they strike and constrict, if I leave it limp they just lazily eat with no constricting.
Olivia was a sweetheart from the beginning, and not shy at all http://oi44.tinypic.com/2uo4f8j.jpg
will finish post when I get back home

Well because I am slow.. I don't know how to edit my previous post haha... if a mod comes along please merge the two posts.

This is Odyssey. She is a bit shy. I got her as being a mean and bitey girl to her previous owner (never to me). I think it was because she was having a mouse shoved in her face daily because she refused to eat, and it made her grumpy.
She is still shy but not as bad as before and has never bit me.

Olivia is darker and more brown and has a neat 'O' on her head, while Odyssey is light and peachy-ish.

    Olivia again

Overall I think Dums are awesome! Both of my girls are lazy, laid back, and sweet. They would rather move away if annoyed than try to bite. My western hognose is the nasty one!
