    Because with a rat you can just feed one and be done. With mice you're going to have to feed multiples to get the same amount of food in them. Rats end up being cheaper when you get to that point too.

    Convenience. Plain and simple.
    Its easier to feed 1 rat than multiple mice to an adult.
    Also, some picky snakes will not eat more than once in a single sitting. So that means they would only eat that one mouse than the 4 it would actually require.
