If you'd wanted a smaller boa, I would've suggested a pure Hog Island male or a male Dumerils.
But this is a very nice snake and it is definitely a hypo. I don't see any Hog influence either, but that doesn't mean it isn't there. Of course, as I said, that wouldn't change the snake's maximum growth anyhow if he's a cross.
If you are concerned, a 7 ft boa is not too bad. You should be able to manage him in a 4x2x2 cage as an adult, and boas are notoriously easy to handle. :gj:
Ok Thank you. At least i know what to expect size wise haha. So if it would have been hog in him what should the visible identification marks be?

Nice =)!
Please post a pic of her if you want.

First boa, a morph?
Here she is. She's fairly calm and pretty easy to handle.

Thanks for all your help!
so he is probably a hypo bci and not a sunset. Is a sunset hypo x hypo? Dosnt have to be a hog hypo in a sunset?
How much should a hypo bci like mine cost in general?
Bobfett, shes really good looking! Is she like a hockey puck girth wise?

First off, no matter what exactly you have, it's a nice looking snake. Don't worry too much about size. There are a lot of over exaggerated reports on size until the tape measure comes out. You more than likely will have a nice 4.5-7 foot snake if it's a male. Big ones are the exception not the rule. Suggested reading would be the Rio Bravo Reptiles web page, and of course Vin Russo's THE COMPLETE BOA CONSTRICTOR.
Feed you snake conservatively and you will not be shocked by a huge growth spurt. Genetics will play the ultimate role in size. "The oldest snakes are the biggest!" and that is from the mouth of Gus Rentfro one of the leading locality boa breeders and experts.
In 10-20 years you will be so used to your snake 7-8 feet won't be a bother if it ever gets that large.
Have fun with it, and enjoy it.

A sunset is a hypo x hog island. A sunset boa is a hypo but all hypos are not sunsets. As far as price goes it varies drastically, as usual. I have seen them go for as low as $50 and goes up from there.

Great feedback, thank you all! So if I breed this little hypo male to an hog female the chanses are that some of the offspring vill be sunsets? I really like this little guy and I can se how boas can be adictive haha. He was born 2012 and is already close to 3 foot. Is that a normal growth rate for an bci? I actually saw a true hog island pair for 285$, Thinking of buying them. Thats about what I paid for this guy.

The only reason I said it looked like a Hog was because of the super-speckling it had, but that was it. :P That's why I didn't say for sure cause I felt like I'd be wrong.
