Hurray for my non-smelly carpet!

I'm just worried about the huge flucuations I'm having is all, I had no problems with my cold side staying between 75-80 24/7 but now its staying above 80 even at night

Try moving your heat pad so that less of it is directly under the container.

Won't that leave part of the hot side cooler then the rest of the hot side?

The enclosure will have a variety of different temperatures throughout. That's why it's called a gradient. The snake only needs a small part of its home to be 90+ degrees...and one part of it to be ~80 degrees...and the rest will be something in between. If you're trying to get one side exactly 93* and the other side exactly 80*, or something like that, well...you'll be setting yourself up for a hair-pulling day for sure! :wink:

Oh I wasn't trying to get exactly, but hovering in a 3 degree area between 90 and 93 and 78-81 or so.

So if my cold side is always around 80* and my warm side is always around 90 I'll be ok? As in, if it drops a degree or 2 below 90 or above 80 on the cold side for a short while its not going to harm my snake?

Yes, the snake should be fine under those conditions.

It sounded like you were trying to get a "hot side" and a "cold side" in such a way that one half of the tank is exactly hot...and one half of the tank is exactly cool. But in reality, there will be a range of temps between your highest and lowest...so it's ok to move the heating pad and have a smaller area of "hot" than you expected.

Making perfect sense ^_^ I was stressing a little because for some ODD reason my room gets hotter at night and colder during the day lol. My Humidity is between 50-65% also so Im not too worried about that as humidity is easily fixed with a humidifier, humid hide, misting, etc...

That is odd, but as long as you can adjust accordingly, it shouldn't be a problem. We all refer to "hot side" or "warm side" and "cool side", but in reality what we're trying to achieve is a range of terrestrial temperature zones, with the warmest being 90F-93F and the coolest being 78F-80F. It doesn't really matter if the temps progress like strips across the floor of the cage or not as long as there is a good range and appropriate hides for thermoregulating. Maybe one person will end of with a warm corner and cool corner with the temp gradient in between, and that's fine too.

Congratulations, I guess :wink: However, I've moved away from carpet to paper towels!

I tried paper towels, but for some reason they seemed to get soaked from the humidity, and it wasnt very high, only around 50-60%

Then I went to newspaper and it seemed to be letting way way too much heat through the bottom of the tank.

So then I switched to carpet which keeps it nice and warm on the hot side, but it seems to be warming up the cold side a bit too much too >_<.
