BTW, for all of you who may have heard that anacondas, especially yellow, are random and you cannot judge what their actions are going to be......B.S. lol Handle it enough and it will be just as tame as a RTB!!! I am actually thinking of buying a baby male and 2 new vivs in the near future, super excited about that!!!!

Id agree it's from her weight while being held. Both my Burmese and my Reticulated Python do it when they're being held. She's a beauty though. :)

That is a beautiful BABY you have! A friendly, placid anaconda is like handling a chubby burm! Whether it's a weight thing or a communication thing, the heavy breathing/hissing thing seems to come with the large snake breeds. All of the burms, retics, anacondas and most larger RTBs do it. Even the rock Python I handled a few days ago did it, although he seemed just be angry about everything! I just play it off like they are commenting about something.

I handled a dwarf retic once and he did that. Think of when you strain to lift something, you hold your breath and let it go when you relax your muscles. I think that's what he's doing.

Yeah, sounds like that's what she's doing!!

We started calling her that because we joked that Satin's about as threatening as a slug. All she does is cruise around or lay there. I always say if she was any more relaxed she'd be dead. :rofl: Big snakes are usually the calmest things I've ever seen. I got to hold an 11ft Burm at a show one time, and she was more of a scaly scarf than a snake. She just completely relaxed around my shoulders and just kinda stared at me like, "You were expecting something?"

Nice!! I would love to hold a burm, maybe I will get Tim Reno to let me hold one of his or maybe even his retic!!! He displays his animals and teaches people at repticon here in Pensacola Fl. He usually lets people get a picture with one for $1 lol, I think that is fair!!

lol I love this! My big girl is the same way. She will wrap up my body and then just sit and watch, it's the funniest thing. Doesn't even care to check out the rest of the room.
