Re: What do you guys think about this BP I found on craigslist? Morph? Should I get i
I think its a nice looking normal, id buy it just to have it if the price was right. Normals need love too as much as the 10,000 $ morphs do.

Yeah i liked the hides too, except for she only has hides on the hot side. We ended up talking and she figured out for six years of his life he has had an unregulated UTH and when she went to go check it she said it wasnt working.. so who knows how long thats been going on. She doesnt have digital thermostats. So im going to pass.

why would you pass just because of that? That makes no sense. Go take a look at the snake and if you like it, get it.

At 6 years old it's that tiny? Poor thing, it sounds to me like she hasn't a clue and has been neglecting the poor baby. It looks good, much better than a lot of CL snakes do. I would certainly go and see it in person. If it isn't showing signs of sickness, and she isn't asking an arm and a leg, I'd get it. It's a really lovely animal that deserves better than what she's been doing. But if rescuing isn't your thing I understand. Hopefully someone will take pity on the little thing and give it a good home.

Thats the deal breaker for you? If its having temperament issues than you could fix that in a hot second with proper temps.

It doesn't look like its in horrible shape..

If you are willing to take the animal, go for it. Don't let someone else's bad husbandry turn you away.

Your right, but she said hes really aggressive and I just purchased my first baby ball a couple months ago so im not sure im ready for that yet. I also didn't know if the fact that it had gone that long without proper heat and belly heat that I shouldn't do it because hes not healthy. I guess they can always turn around though? It is a pretty snake though.

The heat thing shouldn't be too serious. The biggest risk is of course a respiratory infection. My guess is it isn't aggressive, it's hungry. Many and many snakes from CL have been fed poorly if at all, and once you get a few good meals in them, you'd be amazed at how they change.

However, rescuing this snake when you have little experience is not something to take lightly. There could be a myriad of underlying problems you cannot see, and that can add up to vet bills and other expenses. So, if you are not comfortable with the possibility of the snake having problems you cannot see and possibly needing vet care and medication you hesitate to provide, the by all means do not get it. A smart person knows when they are in over their head, only fools rush in blindly and then find out they were not prepared.

I agree the poor thing is probably hungry! And they can get temperamental when their temps are not correct. I agree it's worth at the very least going to see. If it has an RI you should be able to hear wheezing/rasping. And if you feel comfortable you can check it's mouth. If it looks nice and clear you're good to go. Its a beautiful snake. Deserves at least a go see. Any 6 year old snake can be small if its fed a mouse once a month. Who knows what its been eating. Go take a look. Can't hurt....plus snaking is fun!! :)

Based on how thin it is, that snake is just tired of being slowly starved to death. It isn't being "aggressive".
