Yeah, I definitely agree to just leave him be. If they don't come off in his next shed, I've seen videos where people show you how to remove them with Q-tips. However, I haven't needed to try it myself, has anyone needed to do that before?

I can't stand people in that position charging 150 dollars for a snake and setup they probably paid less than that for when they bought it all.

You've done a good deed. Congratulations on your new snake!

actually they could easily have paid more than 150 if bought from a pet store. small normals go for 80 or so around here by themselves. hope the poor thing gets better.

Sorry, I couldn't help but joke. :) Autospell does some funny things sometimes.

To the OP - Good luck with your new baby and great job on the rescue!

Kudos on rescuing and giving the snake a fighting chance. Wish there were many more willing to bend over backwards. Just my 2 cents, but I agree. She didn't get that way overnight, so don't try to "save" her overnight. You're doing a lot right and I am sure she is in good hands. Let's face it, snakes do have bad sheds once in a while...even if we're the most anal about temps and humidity. Just the way it is. I have had to help a snake or two out of a bad shed but have only had to assist the head a few times. Normally if I really bump up the humidity for a few days, they will get out of it themselves...

For the times I have had to help a stuck head shed...I simply soaked the snake for 30 minutes in a shallow tub with a lid and 1/2"-1" of luke warm water. I included a wet washcloth inside the soak tub. I then VERY GENTLY ran the tip of the washcloth from the tub from the tip of the snout => back to help the stuck head skin. If it didn't come off easily, they went back in for another 30 minutes with fresh luke warm water and tried a second time with the washcloth. Usually this will do it. If not, keep the humidity up in the enclosure for a few days and once again let the snake try to do it naturally. Only one time did I have to repeat this procedure a few days later...but it did finally come loose. Definitely do not use tweezers.

This should be a last resort, but can be done if done carefully.

    Good luck!

Get a sizable Tupperware container and wet a towel (not paper towel) with warm water and put it in.

Place snake in and close top. You can make holes if you want.

Leave it in there and make sure it stays warm on a hot spot so it stays warm and humid.

    Leave him in there overnight.

In the AM all should be off. Works like a charm. May be bad if there are a couple or more eye socket sheds stuck.

"I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING! HE'S FINE!!".....clearly not. Just looking at the poor little guy, you can see that he is definitely not okay. It enrages me that people can let their pets get to this condition and think that they aren't doing anything wrong. I applaud you for picking this guy up and taking care of him! :)
