How big are everyone's? I thought they didn't get much longer than 6', but another post someone said they have one that is 8'!

I've heard that "hypo" hog island boa is a result of hybrid breeding? And from what I understand, hogs should grow to about 5-6' in length. If they go over then they must have been fed too much OR a result of hybrid breeding.
Other than the hog island boas, what other boas would you recommend I should check into? Size-wise and temperament? Corn Island Boa? Tarahumara?

I forgot to ask, is it "better" to get pure hogs or hybrids? Which tend to cost more? Thanks.

Hypo Hogs are Colombian x Hog.
And not true, pure Hog females can get up to 8' naturally. Non common, but possible.

Mine isn't an adult, but 5-6' is the norm for these guys. 8' is uncommon but not impossible.

Yep, this is correct. Just because they are a smaller locality does not mean that larger specimens don't exist. They are, after all, BCI.

Neither is "better" than the other. Again, it's mostly a matter of preferance, although there are many who feel that crossing the localities should not be done. However, that doesn't make it wrong. Hybrids tend to cost about the same as pure Hogs. People tend to pay more for the pure lines, but then they also pay more for color so it all comes out in the wash. However, because there is more Colombian blood in the cross, they have a higher likelyhood of being larger as adults.... :gj:
