A few comments never forget the cool side / ambient air temps come primarily from the room with tubs and racks so what temp you plan on keeping your room will determine how well they work.
I would use the lids on. It would SAVE a TON of cleaning / disinfect time! Many claim it is fast but if you are planning to disinfect and follow the instructions on the Disinfectant it just can't be.
google particle board out gassing before you use it. It should be sealed or the no voc type be used. Pvcx offers a viable alternative.

where to buy tubs ,how to set up? given 2nd ball, by neighbor who hasnt fed it
We are relative newbies- have female ball 4 yrs old now,over 4 1/2 ft long, since a hatchling. She is fat and healthy,eats well every 4-6 wwks, except during winter months. Zoe has a 60 gal tank, with 2 hides, a large water hide and a small water crock. Under tank heat and a lamp in the warm end< we have a very cold drafty farmhouse !
We also raise our own rats, as I am into equine color genetics and couldn't resist raising some rare rats as well< nakeds, siamese etc>.
OK- problem is, a neighbor kid, who basicly was feeling a bit jealous about Zoe for years, talked his dad into buying him a hatchling last summer. They got rats from us regularly until about 5 mos ago. I could never get a straight answer from anyone about her eating, so left it alone. They are kind of flaky, so we expected something was wrong. Suddenly my son comes home with their ball yesterday , saying they havent been able to get her to eat in months, so gave her to us. So gave her to us. Supposedly they tried to feed her a large live rat, that attacked her, scared her and she would not even look at food after that.
She appears healthy but thin. My son took her in the shower for awhile and she looks much better, re hydrated I presume< she only had small water bowl and very dry house heat, near wood stove>
I am expecting pinkies in a couple weeks, and thought this the best way to get her started eating again? We normally feed freshly stunned rats to our big girl.
Also we have the aquarium she was in- a 30 gal, but no lid, no heat etc.. so need to set her up something. Not sure if she can be housed with Zoe, or not< have read both opinions> and how to set up a tub for her, that supplies enough options, a soaking crock/hide etc.. but heat is especially worrisome. What size tub, buy at Walmart or ? this girl is about 16-18" long.

Correct temps. That and hides and such to allow a feeling of security. Into experience with rescues the little one always eat with these correct. Start small it will not be so hard to digest.
