My boy was eating live before I got him, luckily had no problems at all getting him on f/t. He has only ever refused one meal in the 5 months I've had him, although he's stopped gaining weight on mice. I'm taking him up to rat pups on Friday, and getting him on a structured 5-day schedule with weigh-ins every two weeks. I feel like he should be bigger, I've seen 2012s that are triple his weight...

    Time To Switch to Frozen/Thawed!
I feed only live I breed rats so its a constant source. I've never (knock on wood) had any problems, I always remove what ever hide the snake is under if they are. Once snake is looking around I drop in the rat, an see how they are responding if they are defensive striking I pull the rat out soon as it starts. Easiest way I found to get hand between defensive snake and a rat is to hang my snake towel between snake and my hand an I've yet to be bit. I've gotten to were I can tell when most my snakes are gonna eat it or not so no rat stays longer than twenty mins. Except my spider she gets smaller meals and takes longer cuz of the wobble shell drop the rat a couple times. I suppose it helps all my feeder rats are tamer as in used to being picked up and handled from birth
