I don´t know how things go in the states, but over here in the Netherlands, petstore mice are checked scrutinously for any bugs. We have a warantee on the things. All live animals have a warantee of a half year. If it dies of anything it got from the store (worms, parasites) the store has to refund the buyer. It is mainly done for cats and dogs and the likes, but a lot of pet mouse-owners have bled the stores dry, so now anything you buy is almost always checked and double checked. That is why I´m not worried. Besides, my corn does not eat thawed out nest mice. It turns up its snout at it! Same for feeding my striped keelback chunks of cod. Even when I move the bits about with tweezers, it does not want to bite. I think they are a little spoiled.

Wow, Eve, that certainly would make me feel better about feeding live prey, too, if that's all my snakes would eat. We definitely don't have a law like that over here in the states, though some localities may require a warranty of some sort on animals bought from pet stores. Generally, though, it's entirely up to the store to set its own policy regarding refunds.
