What's important when buying a ball morph?

Let's see. Single gene. So the last single gene I bought was the enchi. I saw her picture, looked up the breeder and asked friends about him, then bought her because she was too hot to pass up. I don't remember off the top of my head how much I paid for her. I think it was $600. I don't really care because she's a female and she makes me smile when I feed her, change her water, clean her, and take pictures :D!

Edit: When I am deciding what animal to add to the collection, I think about what gene I don't have but I want, what I want in that gene, and if there is a combo that would fit my collection perfectly. I really want a YB female. YB spider, YB sugar, YB enchi, YB fire, YB HGW are all good options to add the gene :D!

This is pretty much how it goes for me too. I do tend to browse the animals sold by certain sellers I already know I like to work with before looking elsewhere, but if those folks don't have it, I'll continue to look or wait. :gj:

Quality is #1 for us. At any given time, we may be looking for a handful of morphs. We just keep our eyes open for exceptional examples. And occasionally we will pick up an animal that we aren't specifically in the market for if it's really outstanding. Price isn't a big priority. I've paid above "market price" to get an animal I wanted plenty of times...

Quality is the most important aspect of potential additions to my collection. Next is lineage. If you can't tell me what the lineage of the animal is I am moving on.
Price is the least important to me.

I look for quality, seller reputation (I try to purchase from people I've already dealt with), and price. And the least quantifiable thing, which is probably the most important to me: the "spark". I want an animal that just feels like it belongs with me forever.

This is exactly what I do to. I've never cared much about the dollars I can sell the offspring for. I breed what appeals to me. I know people are upset that the bottm has fallen out of the Ball market, but I like the way things are because I can get all 4 of these most of the time. Great thread!
