Is there any "rule" about traveling with snakes?

Yep, no big deal. As others have said, just keep them from getting cold and they'll do fine. I have brought snakes along with me many times over the past decade or so with no ill effects. You can bag them, or you can put them in a "carrier" cage which consists of a miniature enclosure with either fresh bedding or some of their own from their regular enclosure.

Stress is the biggest concern with the latter option, but I generally only bring along my more tolerant snakes, so I have never had any real issues with either method (knock on wood).

I used that at first but it tends to scorch after a few uses.
[possibly because the water inside of each grain escapes and it becomes too dry]

So far, the popcorn just keeps on going.

I wish my parents would at least let my snake be around them. When it came time to move back in my mom and dad adamantly refused to let me keep my babies with me, regardless if I said I would keep them in my room and they'd never see them unless I had to take them somewhere.

Even when I mentioned that relatively soon my boyfriend and I are going to get a Bearded Dragon! I explained that it's probably better than another snake right now (since my bf's mom doesn't like snakes and they have to stay at his house) to get something that eats leafy things and such. She said "now that's more my speed." So I said that if we got a Beardie I could keep it here with me, and she still said no. :tears: I hate not being able to see my "kids" all the time.

I've traveled pretty far with mine, 4 hours has been the farthest drive. I pack them up just like I would if I were shipping them. If you don't have any old snake shipping boxes you can put them in a cooler of some sort with hot water bottles. Don't use heat packs unless you have heat packs specifically for shipping reptiles. Normal heat packs give off a toxin that is very dangerous to snakes. Just make sure you don't make it too hot inside the cooler.
