New to this, burms in the everglades?

Yup it's so pointless to have the burm on the Lacey act. The whole pitch the politicians had was that if they cross state lines they will escape and take over land all over the county. When the truth is they would all die over the winter anyway, even Florida gets too cold for them. All it is was a chance for a politician to get his name on a bill. They could care less what the bill does.

I'm not "up" on herp laws, per-say...as I only own 1 measly BP. My question is, are the politicians who sign/create these bills usually dems, reps, other? Or is it a combination of all the above? :confusd: Not that it really matters in the end, I guess...

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Dem's started the issue, and a few rep's have hopped on the bandwagon. I think the dem's are the driving force, but I'm not entirely sure. The Lacey act covers a lot more then just snakes, and there seems to be people on both right and left in favor of adding to it.

The lacey act has been around since the 1900's, and has served as a loop hole / catch all for politicians who want to add laws without going through the proper steps.

whats not to say the same can happen with BP's? i mean i know why this happened with Burms, guy buys a hatchling after watching too much jake the snake roberts wrestling matches, a few years later sees how big it grows, cant take care of it and dumps them in the glades, it dosent make sense for this to happen with BP's that barely get to 5ft. But who knows?

All im saying it, im suprised that this actually happened, i.e a foreign python from the other side of the world being able to be found easily in florida. It boggles my mind that i can actually go to the glades right now and find a burmese python just roaming around.

And as far as crossing them thru statelines, that dosent seem that hard to do, i mean u can easily take like a regular dozen egg carton, throw out the regular eggs and put the burm eggs in there, i doubt a cop will notice the difference, although it would be a little weird, like why are you driving from florida north on i95 with a carton of eggs?

well, hopefully they didnt get very many, because snakes can hide better than people can search.
