Do I have a ghost/hypo?

Het Hypos are definitely lighter/cleaner than normals a lot of the time, I have noticed. I wouldn't say I could spot one in a pile of snakes definitively, but I think there is a subtle difference.

All I bought and paid for was normals. I all expect is normals. I had heard from someone that ghosts shed w/o pattern. She's 3 yrs old and I never paid attention to her shed. She shed the morning I posted this and no pattern on her shed. I rolled it completely out. I'm not claiming she is a hypo but if the shoe fits. I want to find out. I'm breeding her to a citrus pastel lesser bee next season. If in a couple generations some ghost shows up cool if not so what.

Since I had read or heard the shed w/o pattern I wanted to see what the community thought. I'll try to post a pic soon. But she looks like a normal just a little on the yellow side.

Not necessarily. I've got a het hypo female who was the darkest snake in a clutch of possible hets. Also if you look over some of Ralph Davis' oldest breeding records, he has a line of dark looking animals that he was calling Anerythristic that turned out to throw some really nice hypos.

I disagree with everything in this statement. Normals vary in pattern so much, that argument could be made for ANY heterozygous recessive and would still hold no merit. Excluding Het Pied

Ive had Normals shed clear and het Ghosts shed patterned sheds so thats not a guaranteed way of telling if its a het Hypo.

And as for selling 100% hets as normals, wholesale prices? Yea sure but its not like its a very common practice.

But anyways OP, cant you just ask the breeder you got it from if theres a chance of her being Het Hypo? Going by the pic, until you know for sure, thats just a Normal

Also to QTEpythons, I would not call that a hypo, the dark colors are too dark. But it certainly looks like something interesting, possibly something vanillaish? I'd definitely be working to reproduce it if it were in my collection.

Also, as far as selling 100% hets as normals, I've been doing that for years with my male 100% het hypos and albinos. I do let people know what they are if they care (most people who pay the price for a normal are just looking for a pet and don't really care about the genetics), but the price is the same as I charge for normal co-dom siblings. Female hets of course are higher.

IMHO hypo is 2nd only to pied as a "recessive" with co-dominant tendencies. Certainly some het hypos can be dark and most het hypo's don't shed clear but I've seen bright clean looking het hypos that do shed clear. Your odds probably aren't great on this one being a random het hypo but if you find yourself working with a hypo gene male you might put them together just in case.

When I look at his breeding records the two clutches on her birthday are Albinoxhet albino and Ph pastel piedx ph pied.

The person who mentioned vanilla-ish look. Your right I'll have to work it out and see what pops out.
Shes breeding with my citrus pastel Queenbee next season. But that depends on her. :)

Bought these and some other balls from Garrick. He's always been great to work with and has always been quick to answer any questions.

Those all look pretty normal to me, but the light patch on the one's head could indicate there is something else going on. It isn't an indicator of hypo, but yellowbellys, fires, and specials have it. Even if it was one of those morphs, that wouldn't make it shed clear. Shedding clear is usually something that hypos do. It is possible that is a het hypo. It may have been a possible het that I just sold as a normal. However, het hypos shed normally. Only visible hypos shed clear. I'm not really sure what to tell you about that snake. I'd probably breed it to a mojave or a yellowbelly at some point. If it is something different, one of those two morphs bred to her should show you something cool.
