There's a HUGE difference between a large juvenile and a proven breeder. You're going to pay through the nose for a proven breeder female. You should be able to pick up a decent yearling for around 150-200. A 2 year old will generally be around 100 more, and so on. Keep in mind that females should be about 3-4 years old before being bred. Size is only part of the equation. :gj:

Alright, so $500 for a proven female and juvenile male is a good deal then? The female looks like a normal BRB but the male is really attractive.

That totally depends on their quality and if the seller can provide lineage. Lineage isn't usually necessary, but it IS nice to know where each snake originally came from and can sometimes make the offspring more desirable.

I would say it's a good deal if BOTH snakes are attractive. If the male is outstanding, but the female is lackluster, than she's not likely to produce better than herself. The male might be able to improve on her, but then again, maybe not. In my personal opinion, not just any snake should be bred. Only the very BEST examples of a species or morph should be involved in a captive breeding program.

If you are able to post pictures of the pair, we might be able to tell you if they appear to be quality animals.....

BUT if you really like the female too, and both snakes are healthy, then, yes, I'd say it's a pretty good deal. :gj:

What are the things do you look out for on quality BRB? Keep in mind that this is not a morph. Thanks.

Brilliance of color and high irridescence. Crisp and clear pattern - whether its aberant or semetrical, the pattern should be obvious and clear, not "muddied". Solid, not broken, head pattern (unless the overall pattern is aberant). As far as color, some prefer more orange and some prefer more red, so that is a personal preference on your part, but the overall look of the snake should speak QUALITY.

Good body condition and temperament are also very important.

Can you post pictures of the pair in question??

Unfortunately, I do not have pictures but I saw them already. The female has good temperament but the male is a little strike-happy but he is also young. The male is a really good looking snake and the female is pretty much the same as the other BRB I've seen before. They're both orange. I want to add another female (red) in the future.
