I have both. I don't know if I could decide between one or the other! They are both very cool display snakes. Then again, I love me some green!!!

GTPs are really high on my list.

    My collection went:
    1. Ball python
    2. Green tree python
    3. Western Hognose
    4. Blood python
    5. Brazilian rainbow boa
    6. Three yearling bloods

My favorite is the GTP because of how they display. My favorite to handle is my big blood, I love her girth and her puppy dog personality.

Then the to get list: not necessarily in order
    7. Redtail/Hogg Island
    8. Dumeril
    9. Enteral tree boa

I like diversity. The multiple bloods are for a breeding program I want to start.

Overall just get what you want.

After I kept balls and corns I considered the following:

    Hognose
    Carpets
    Blood pythons

I would advise just a little bit more experience on general snake behavior if you're going to get a blood, or short tailed python.

I ended up getting a Borneo short-tailed python, and I love her to bits. Thought they were a bit different than all the red bloods everyone has, and they weren't nearly as expensive as the Sumatran short tails (black bloods).

That being said I still reaaallyyy want the other two. When I'm more financially stable you betcha I'm going to keep all 3. :)

edit: If I ever get a boa it's going to be a Leopard Boa. I will settle for nothing else, so I guess I'll just have to wait.

I'm in the same boat. I have several ball pythons and I love em but I do want some variety. I really like the Woma (not the ball python morph) but I was told that they're really "dumb" and they think everything is food.

I do like to handle my snakes and I do not enjoy being bit. I would like to stay in the same range, size wise, as the ball python... maybe 1-2 feet longer or shorter is fine.

I've also been looking into Brazilian Rainbow Boas.

    Thoughts?

I would love to get a BRB eventually...I want to get a few more pythons first...

I've heard from ppl on here and in the snake books ive read BRBs aren't THAT much different in terms of care than BPs...

and with my current QT setup I can really only QT 1 snake at a time....
