Any recommendations about preventing them from the clicking on the rim of the cement tubs like I mentioned? Is there something they hate the taste of that i can rub there? They make this stuff called 'bitter apple' for keeping cats and dogs from licking wounds. It works on ferrets too. Maybe if I rub a little of that along the edge?

I keep a close eye on them. And I've had them in similar tubs for 6 months and haven't had a chew through yet. Cross my fingers I won't have any!

MrLang, my ratties do the same thing at the front of the tub. I watched them closely, and I don't think they're actually using their teeth. It seems like they're sniffing as high as they can go, and their teeth are inadvertently clicking on the edge. It's only on a certain tub that isn't quite as snug against the wire as the others. You can try the bitter apple on the edges, just to help discourage them. We sometimes use it on rodents at our clinic, so it should work the same way as with dogs.

Update: some complained about food being loosely scattered so I upgraded to a tray if you will.
