With a terrarium setup I have found it works really well if all heat sources are on one side of the tank. With this example, the heat lamp and UTH are both on one the same side. This seems to help create a perfect basking spot from both the top and bottom and the heat from the lamp on warm side, creates the perfect ambient temp on the cool side. I also find having the heat lamp on the same side as the UTH doesn't seem to kill my humidity as much. This is based off information I found on a boa care sheet from redtailboas.com, I don't see why it would not work for ball pythons. This may not work for everyone one but seems to be worth an attempt especially with glass setups.

Re: BP Terrarium and Beginner Questions Complete!
Thanks for all the help and the PMs I received! Right now the hot side is kept around 90 F while the cool side is about 80 F. Humidity is staying between 50 - 80% with misting once a day :D

I ended up putting bandanna "blinders" over the sides of the tank to help making the snake feel more secure.

    Happy Snake!
    All,

Thank you very much for the PMs and support! Izzy spends all day in her hot side hide, comes out and searches around at night, and just took a f/t rat fuzzy the first time I tried to feed her. Seems like a happy snake and that makes me a happy owner.

    All the best!
