The probes on the little units will fit through a vent hole. The wire is quite fine so it can also got over the top as well.
I buy them 10 at a time and check them against themselves. The ones that deviate from the pack I don't use. They have according to the specs half the possible error range of the accurites most use. I pay between 1-3 each for them shipped.
