No harm in shooting VPI a quick inquiry. They set the standard for some of the really red lines of T+ albinos. I don't know if they still work with them or not.

You know what, I actually shot tons of inquiries to a lot of folks and it just seems like there isn't a lot out there at the moment. Maybe later in the year I'll pick up a Blood but I actually ended up finding another snake that should be coming in February!

Noob question/thread hijack here. Difference between Albino and T+ Albino? Any other kinds? I'm new to these guys, and can't find a website with color/pattern variations. I have a Breit, but in the future I wouldn't mind adding an interesting Brong.

Albino and T pos Albino are the same thing with these guys. Albino and T pos albino are NOT the same thing when talking about boas and other pythons though.

Actually there are T-positive and T-negative blood pythons. The T-negs are now common enough that it helps to specify that to which one is referring. :)

Exactly, forgot to throw the T negatives out there since we were on a T+ roll :P

Do you have a specific example of T+ versus T- albino? I don't trust my google abilities on this one.

You know, it's interesting that this T-/T+ thing should suddenly come up because I was just wondering about it. To expand on the question though, is the T+ the so called "standard" because I feel like I see more Albinos that have the T+ appearance than animals with a T- appearance also that the T- seem to have about a $300 prince difference. :v

The T-pos could be called the "standard" and are more often seen for sale, but as Kara said previously the T-negs are becoming common enough that it is important to specify these days.

As far as the differences, it it pretty much the same as an "albino" ball python vs a caramel albino ball python. The T-neg is the normal albino, the T-pos would be the caramel look. Basically, T-neg albinos have pure white on them. The T-pos albinos will have purples and some darker colors to them. The albinos in this thread have all been T-pos.

    Examples:

Instead of purples on the sides, or various shades of colors, there are places where it is strictly white:

    Lots more white on a T-neg: http://vpi.com/galleries/images/blood_python_albino_352

Conversely, all that white will appear as a purple/gray color on a T-pos albino:

Pay attention to the side markings, tail, and head in particular. The purple/grey is dispersed throughout the body, but it is most concentrated in those areas.

Thanks for clearing that up, Tikall! I have a general idea of the differences but wasn't entirely sure since I see a lot of Bloods just labeled as Albinos with no T-/T+ difference mentioned and was always a little unclear is the "plain" Albino was actually a separate strain or what.

    Now I know. :D
