    I would thin out the substrate to 1/2" thick or less. a 3" layer of aspen simply isn't necessary and will make your under tank heater have to work much harder than necessary. (what is your thermostat set to?)

    I got i it hooked up to a dimmer. The temp is 83. In his hide its 88

    Im already taking some aspen out right now. I might switch back to newspaper.
