I have 1 Mojave het pied girl who loved to hiss. Once I changed my shorts & got up to nerve to open her tub again ( keeping my body a bit farther away than the first time) I also notices that the hissing was accompanied by very deep breathing in and out. Basically,she was puffing in and out. Check it out :)
