Here is another breeder resource. I have made up my mind unless I find a cooler morph my next snake is going to be a red lace african house snake (female).

    http://www.kingsnake.com/housesnake/resource.html

some of these links are dead and some places may be sketchy but this is all i got so far. I wish I could find someone who was specializing in them - they breed so rapidly you'd think there would be far more morphs plus they are attractive looking, feed well, adapt well....

    coastal carpet Python
here are some pictures of African House Snakes

Here is the normal brown coloring (it is a bit like a rainbow boa in person so I've read)

Here is an albino morph from www.cherryvillereptiles.com (eyes are green and red)

Here is a red lace Af House snake (my fav) from www.cherryvillereptiles.com

and lastly here is a solid red Af House Snake from the same site

these are active noctournal snakes (colubrids generally are active) from what I read they don't stink or spray you and though they have a fantastic feeding response they don't bite unless you smell like mouse. They behave much like a half python half colubrid would and males are MUCH shorter than females (a very big female tops out around 4' males 2' and these are generous estimates)

I think you'd love an AHS, Jonah. The Red Lace phases are my favorite as well. I saw pics of a Hypo floating around somewhere not too long ago....that was pretty sweet.

No Problem! I'm like a kid in a candy store now that I've found my next definate addition. I'm gonna get one from Cherryvillereptiles in september. Once I get situated in a definite living area (If my company fails I'll move back to Chicago, if it's going ... and it should be since we just got another loan... I'll be living here in lovely Nashville for quite some time) once I get situated I'm gonna get some cresties. I'm sticking with stricly snakes for a while though (my BP and my Ahouse) because they work more flexibly with my schedule. I'm really excited about these African House snakes (as if you couldn't tell) and I'm very surprised they don't get more publicity in forums. Thanks David for tipping me off to them! -- oh beardies are probably in my future too.. haha either them or the other dragons Marla and David talked about. No lizzards until I get settled though day to day care (other than the occasional cleaning and daily water changes) for lizzards just doesn't work for me yet until things calm down so I am being responsible and fighting my impulsive side. :)

No problem man, glad I could help. I agree that the AHS are very under-rated in the hobby. I think once some of the morphs start popping up they will become more popular. They breed like crazy and are basically like Corn Snakes in a little Python's body. :D

It's definitely a good idea to plan ahead so that you know you're really ready for whatever animal you're taking on. Heck, maybe I'll be selling cresties by the time you're ready to buy. :)
