    Since I can't really do much right now I threw in some paper towels to hopefully prevent the heat from being too high and indirect contact.

    Maybe I should throw in an old t-shirt or socks too?

    In the mean while I will be getting those items I posted.

    Here is the link again sorry:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...A1TQQ4ZHI2444B

    I don't have a local walmart near by so I will need to find one on amazon for the thermometer.

    So I will go to petco and buy a heat lamp from them and find a hardware store that sells the dimmer.

    With the heat lamp + heat tape. I imagine I want to get the air to be 75 and the rest to be done by the heat tape? How do I measure both ? What balance should I go for.

    This is a slightly older model but is basically the same as the one I posted about above.

    The heat lamp will heat the air in the cage to 80 degrees, while the heat tape will create an area on the floor of the cage that is 90 degrees. This area will be the hot side/basking area.

    So do I put the heat tape on the hot side and the heat lamp on the hot side too?

    I use the probe thermometer to measure heat of the floor? What do I use to measure the heat of the air? The round thermometers?

    Thanks

    I would put that heat lamp in the center of the cage.

    The probe will measure the hot side. But both of the thermometers that I linked too also have a second thermometer behind the screen as well as a humidity sensor in the same place.

    Here you can see whats behind the screen:

    Blue = thermometer

    Red = humidity sensor

    So the probe goes on the hot side directly over the heat tape, and then you place the unit on the cool side to measure the air temp inside the cage as well as humidity.

    I found this old little heater I had. Don't have a central ac system to tell the temp of this room. I will have to trust the temp on the little mini heater =-/

    I am thinking of letting it sit at about 70 degrees for now.

    Get a paper towel and damp it and put it on the hot spot under the hide to hopefully balance things out at least till I get a probed thermometer and a heat lamp.
