My pied will sometimes take 30+ minutes to figure out which way is the right way lol...

My spider did not understand how to ate a prey item for a good 6 months. It would take him 30 minutes almost every time I fed him just for him to figure out how to swallow it. As long as you are feeding him the correct sized prey, he will not be able to eat it sideways, he'll drop it, and figure out he has to eat it from one end or the other.
