Edema is a result of the prolapse, not the cause, and fwiw, connective tissue is always stretched or torn when a true prolapse occurs.

if the cool side is in the upper 70's I don't see 89 for a hot spot being a problem for digestion. durning breeding season I try for 86 for a hot spot. and they digest their food just fine at that temp.
