Its a close call I love my BCI cause shes my first herp but not my first choice she was a present. My favs are the BP's and the Carpets equally. I love my BP cause of the docileness of them and they're colour scheme & patteren. And carpets cause they're somewhat of a challenging snake personality wise great colour and patterens not to mention they are the one snake that over and over refines my love in reptiles. It's my(hopefully) near future dream to own one.

    Ironhead,
I love Indigos also and getting the permit isn't that difficult.
From my understanding you call wildlife where you live ( your state ) and make sure that don't ban them then if you are buying out of state you need a federal permit to have it shipped.
Good website is WWW. Easternindigo.com seems they run about 650-1k in price.
Seems permits are just a matter of phone calls and a few $$

In terms of pets, the ball python. I don't know if it is obvious enough, I only have a ball python orientated site... They're simply awsome looking, small enough to hold but big enough to be fun, docile, ect. Just great pets.

But on look alone, green tree pythons.....mmmm

I just can't pick just one. I absolutely love ball pythons, but there are other herps that are better for various purposes like display, educational programs, children's pet, etc. Ball pythons are gorgeous and fascinating, but (for example) crested geckos are more entertaining to watch day in and day out.

I love our ball pythons, but my favorite herp has to be my water python. I love the sleek look he has, but even more than that, I love his inquisitive nature. Unlike our BPs, who usually hide whenever we do anything in their enclosures, my water python comes out of hiding to see what I'm doing whenever I open his enclosure. When I change his water, he immediately goes over to his water bowl, sniffs around, and takes a drink. When I change the aspen in the corners of the enclosure that tend to get a little damp, he's right on top of my hand checking everything out. When I take him out to play, he's all over the place exploring. He's like a little puppy in a snake's body!
