Do you like to take your snakes places ?

I'd be terrified of disease as well. I don't bring out my hogs, and my dog only comes out with me if she's absolutely begging to come out.

I occasionally take mine places. I have talked to many people who are scared of snakes and by the time we are done talking they want to know more or are even holding it or at least petting it. Its all how you spin it. Fear is derived from the unknown. Educating someone that fears snake from lack of knowledge is helpful to the herp world in my eyes. I know my snake isnt a dog so I dont take him everywhere just occasionally and almost all the time has been a great educating result.

I take my snake to some (ie once or twice) of my college courses if its pertinent to the material....I took him to genetics and ecology the other day....my roommate takes her's all the time to her zoology and animal behavior courses...then again both of those are taught by an absolute snake lady LOL

This too for me....the 2 times i took Orion to my genetics class I had people wanting to ask questions and check him out who earlier in the week were saying how scared they were of snakes....I figure its kinda worth it for education purposes if I can get even 1 person to walk away thinking "ok snakes arent so bad after all"

The pet store seems like the worse place you could take them.

For the people who do shows, do you keep all your snakes that are for sale in QT?
It freaks me out to see people going from table to table holding snakes. Then you have the cool kids with a snake around their neck walking around :/

I'd be too worried for the safety of my snakes to take them any where. There are just too many ignorant and hateful people out there. I got tired of the rude comments received about my rats (without me even taking them out of my house!), it would be worse with snakes. Comments like "That would make a nice belt," "You should just kill it, only good snake is a dead snake," or "If that thing comes near me I'll chop its head off." People say these things under the guise of them being "jokes". It isn't about having a thick skin, either, it is basic decent respect, of which too many people have none.

Yeah I really don't take my snakes anywhere. I would like to take them places for educational purposes, but I definitely don't want people freaking out about seeing them.

My snake is happy in his home, I see no reason to take them out and about other than to educate kids, and even then it shouldn't be done very often or at least with different snakes each time in a short period.

Expo's on the other hand only happen once or twice a year, which is perfectly fine! You still may get one or two of your snakes that wont eat after being to one though.

If you do take him out and he poops on you its his or her way of telling you I told you so! ;)

i agree what everbody is saying but i do wanna add this person is clearlly not an adult so maybe we can teach instead of just slamming insults at people. i do take my bp out around the house from time to time and my larger ones get front lawn time in the summer for real life basking an some people know me for that and have been very much eased from there snake fears because of it.even made a lil girl go from snake hater into cornsnake owner. now im not sayin show your snake off at the beach or party and just try to get in people faces but leting your bp get real sun time is fine that what i would tell this young person not dog kids out because i know im the same guy who as a kid, an the pet store sold me a red tail boa with 10 gallon tank no lid no heat sorce an no knowlege of crap and maybe this child is just a pet store victom whos clueless

On top of what's already been said, make sure you know the laws in you area in reference to exotic pets especially in public places. Taking them to a pet store, pet expo, show or what ever is one thing but a park, grocery store parking lot or anything not pet related can and will be a hole other issue.

If one person gets bit or makes a phone call you could be fined, your pet confiscated and worse case, put down.
