Yeah, I agree with Eddie. Plus I think they were lying to me cause I asked the Petco guy to get the little Redtail so I could play with it for a while. They backed away from it like there was no tommorow :roll:

I was at the pet store a couple months ago to get some feeders. They lady there asked what they were for and I told her a ball python ect. ect.
She said she had just gotten an albino ball python from another pet store for like 200 bucks. I was like NO F&*$(@# WAY! so I rush down there with my cash to find......

you guessed it. a couple of albino burms.
She worked at a pet store, owned snakes, and didnt know the difference between an albino burm and an albino ball.
Reason number 579 why I dont like pet shops.

I'm floored that anyone working in a petstore that sells reptiles would not know the difference between a bp and a burm...and even MORE floored that a shop would SELL a burm and represent it as a bp. That's just wrong!

People just hear/read python all the time and assume they're essentially the same. Not quite as bad as not being able to tell a snake from a worm, but just about. :roll:

Yeah, I am gunna hafta figure that the more likely scenario is that people think that Boas & Pythons are the same thing. I know that I used to think so until I started studying & researching snakes before buying my own. I guess what it all comes down to is people still shouldn't be owning snakes if they don't know the difference because it is clear that not knowing the difference equates to not having enough knowledge!

True, people definitely shouldn't be keeping snakes if they can't identify what they're keeping and provide proper care to them.

That's why I hate seeing BPs in pet stores, especially at a low price. I once saw them at petco (incidentally, I no longer shop there for many reasons) on sale for $25. Any schmuck could walk in and buy one and torure the poor thing by improper care.

True, but it also could make it possible for someone like me to pick it up as an impulse buy. :)

lol, me too. If it's an impulse buy by someone who's "in the know" like us, it can't be that bad. Only bad thing would be the fact that we spent our money in a crappy store in the first place. Believe me, I would love to rescue a bunch of snakes from those horrid places, but then they would just replace them with fresh imports, those...uh.. dummie-heads. (insert worse cuss-word here.) :)
